Huawei Fit

On November 3 Huawei surprised us with the presentation of the new flagship of the Chinese company, Huawei Note 9. The event also served to present to all media, the new Huawei Fit, a smartwatch that aspires to become a serious Alternative to its pebble rivals.

Huawei Fit, with heart rate sensor

Actually this Huawei smartwatch, is between a smart watch and an activity bracelet. The Huawei Fit incorporates a heart rate sensor, which is responsible for measuring the user’s heart rate 24 hours a day. In addition it does with very good precision. It also has an accelerometer, pedometer to measure the steps and gyroscope.

It has the advantage that can register up to five different types of training: walks, races, cycling, swimming and running on tape. No doubt this is a very complete fitness gauge.

Stylish design and customizable strap

It should be noted that the Fit has a very nice design. The bracelet is much more stylized than other pebble-like wearables, which look coarser. In fact it uses an 18 mm strap, which is the standard measure in watches.
Although it comes in three different models (black, blue and orange), you can put on the belt that you like, even leather, although obviously you will have to buy it separately. The Huawei Fit bracelet weighs 35 grams, is 39.5 mm in diameter and has a thickness of 9.9 millimeters.

An electronic ink smartwatch

The Huawei Fit is a smartwatch of electronic ink in black and white as the Pebble 2. It highlights its black and white screen of 208 pixels. This type of screens, besides being less harmful to the eyes, consume less battery. With normal use, we will be able to have up to 6 days of autonomy and up to 30 days at rest, thanks to its battery of 80 mAh (which is recharged by the microUSB port). Undoubtedly a very supportive point of this activity bracelet.

A very interesting aspect of this Huawei smartwatch is the option of incorporating custom training routines. This way the device does the monitor function, while we are doing the activity. You can also analyze metrics such as VO2Max and the time needed to recover.

Huawei Wear at the controls

Although it may seem strange, the Fit does not integrate Android Wear. Instead it has an application of Huawei (available for both Android and iOS), which works a very simple way. We can also connect this gadget to our smartphone via Bluetooth, and receive messages and notifications of calls. The Huawei Fit smartwatch is IP68 certified. This means that it is resistant to dust and allows to submerge up to 50 meters.

In terms of operation, it should be noted that the Huawei Fit responds fairly smoothly, something that is not always usual in this type of devices. Simply with a wrist stroke or a quick spin, you can browse through the different screens.

Differences between Huawei Fit and Pebble 2

Huawei Fit arrives to compete with other smartwatch of electronic ink like the Pebble 2. The design is different, since the new model of Pebble shines an elegant rectangular form, unlike the bracelet of Huawei that bet by a line very similar to the Watches.

In other respects the differences are minimal. Both share a cardiac sensor, water resistance and a battery with an autonomy that is about a week. It is even likely that the price will be on a par. Of course, the Pebble 2 has a built-in microphone so that its carrier can respond to the messages with its own voice. The Huawei Fit lacks this functionality.
