After launching Remix OS 1.5, the new release of the operating system based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Chinese House Jide pushes the throttle on his next creation: Remix Mini PC. We’ve already talked a few days ago, when the same company announced the imminent launch of a crowdfunding campaign for the realization of the first Mini PC based on Remix OS. The preparation phase is now running out and the fundraiser will start in a week and while we know more closely, thanks to information from the development team.
Jide launch two SKUs Mini Remix, which will share much of the data sheet except for the amount of RAM and storage. Both will be based on a quad-core Allwinner (Cortex A53) 64bit 1.2GHz GPU Mali-400, probably a Allwinner H64, flanked by 1-2GB of RAM and 8-16GB internal eMMC memory (expandable with a slot microSD up to 128GB). The small chassis, which resembles a large river stone 124 x 88 x 26 mm, contains a module WiFi 802.11n, 10/100 Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, as well as 2 USB ports, HDMI, audio jack and IR receiver. Mini PC will be preinstalled in the release Remix OS 2.0, which like the 1.5 release should still be based on Android 5.0 Lollipop but with some improvements and new features in most.
We come to the prices: Remix is a Mini PC TV Box among the cheapest in circulation, because it will cost just $ 20 (1GB / 8GB) or $ 40 (2GB / 16GB), and both models will be available in the campaign on Kickstarter for supporters “Earlybird”. At the moment we do not know whether the initiative will be open to users Italians, but do not exclude that the previously seen fundraising Remix Ultra Tablet had a huge contribution on the part of our community and Remix OS (in Italian) it has recently landed in Italy and with 3G-tab.
The Mini PC is ideal Jide as secondary computer, connected to a monitor with mouse and keyboard, but also in the role of media-streamer to watch on the TV in the living room streaming video or surfing the Internet. In this capacity OTT box you can also manage it with the smartphone / tablet as a remote control via the infrared port.
