Linksys Introduces WRT3200ACM. This new router uses Tri-Stream 160 technology and MU-MIMO technology. The router offers thanks OpenWrt or DD-WRT support for open source applications. The WRT3200ACM 802.11ac supports Wave 2 technology, which reserves special bandwidth to client devices with MU-MIMO support.
The new WRT3200ACM is certified for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and can thus use a channel width of 160 MHz in the 5 GHz frequency range. For example, a AC1900 router using three streams at a channel width of 80 MHz. Each stream offers speeds of up to 433 Mbps. This results in a total of 1.3 Gbps. The WRT3200ACM the other hand, makes use of three streams at a channel width of 160 MHz. This results in a transmission rate of 867 Mbps per stream, so a maximum of 2.6 Gbps.
