Alcatel TCL properties and now a few months ago the Chinese company has started imposing (even) his mark on all the goods for sale, including smartphones, tablets and wearable. And this is the reason why the new TCL Xess is very similar aesthetically and technically to Alcatel Xess launched earlier this year, although no longer the “Alcatel” brand. It ‘a refresh and update – albeit minor – can be very interesting for someone.
TCL Xess is still a tablet-AIO with display 17.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), octa-core processor MediaTek 1.5GHz, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a battery that allows you to use the device away from electrical outlet, for example, if you are going to take it for a recipe in the kitchen or living room to watch a movie with friends. The main difference that distinguishes it from the previous model is support for voice service Alexa Amazon, an element that pushes TCL to position Xess as a hub of the “smart home” rather than as a multimedia device.
We know that Alexa supports a wide range of equipment dedicated to home automation, including shutters, light bulbs and thermostats, so that you can control with voice commands through Xess. The tablet also comes with a camera, which can be installed anywhere in the home to control the environment from the tablet screen. TCL Xess runs on Android, but has a personalized home screen, depending on the contents shown. One of the three available screen is dedicated to video surveillance, so for example you can use Xess as baby monitor.
The new TCL Xess is already available in the US for $ 499, exactly what the old model at launch.
